- 0 DOS Protected Mode
- LDOS protected mode is the same memory management used by WINDOWS. It allows
- KDOS programs to use the entire extended memory of your computer, instead of
- Hbeing restricted to 640 K of useable memory the way ordinary (real mode)
- HDOS programs are. Using this program under DOS protected mode will give
- Lyou much more memory to work with, allowing you to handle accounts with more
- Itransactions than in real mode. In order to use protected mode, however,
- Lyou must have extended memory (memory beyond 1 megabyte on your machine) and
- Hyou must have an 80286 or higher chip in your machine. If both of these
- Kconditions are satisfied, then you may choose the protected mode version of
- Jthe program by pressing the YES button. On some older 80286 machines, the
- Jprotected mode version may not work correctly. In this case load the real
- mode version.2
